If you like reading about reading, this is the book for you. It explains the mechanisms behind reading, like object-recognition at an early age, it also explains how writing systems changed over the eras, from cuneiform to hieroglyphics to the Phoenician Alphabet. Not beach reading by any means, but interesting.
